From Minot, we left US-52 and took US-2 eastbound, because naturally, we couldn’t pass through North Dakota without stopping to see the Geographic Center of North America, which is located in Rugby, ND. Not far away, Chris also photographed the Northern Lights Tower, which is as close as we got to seeing the famous lights.

From there, we took ND-3 southbound so that we could rejoin US-52. It was a 2-hour drive to dinner, which we found at the Pizza Ranch in Carrington, ND. The Pizza Ranch was a pleasant surprise—clean, with very friendly servers and good pizza. We highly recommend the Pizza Ranch if you should find yourself in the Carrington area.

Refreshed, we continued on to Jamestown, ND, where we checked into the Gladstone Inn and Suites. The Gladstone had a restaurant, a casino, and…a pool area; we had been in the room for perhaps five minutes before we were changed and swimming in the chlorinated water.
