The corned beef was thickly sliced, fabulous and hearty! The kraut was noticeable but the 1000 island dressing was very light. it was hard to notice as it was mixed in with the sauerkraut. The sandwich overall was a little dry but really filling. This is a great sandwich. The restaurant was very nicely decorated, with large aquaria and a fireplace on the west wall. This place definitely "out-elegances" the Elegance across the street. The decor was nice and the staff was very friendly. The free drink refills were also a nice touch. I recommend the Green Street Pub and Eatery (or is it Green Street: Family - Friends - Spirits?) for good economical family dining in a nice atmosphere.

It was a remarkably pleasant day for early August. The temperature hovered in the mid-70s. The oppressive mugginess of summer, characteristic of the Midwest, was noticeably absent. Large puffy clouds drifted lazily across a spectacular azure background. A more optimal environment for Reuben eating could not be had. It's been at least a month since I had been off the road long enough to eat a Reuben with my fellow eaters. I waited for a train to pass a crossing in the road and let my mind wander in anticipation of a fresh Reuben. The Green Street Pub and Eatery is a rather curious name for a neat and clean family restaurant. The pub section will greet you as you enter the door. It's off to the right and bears a sort of sports theme. At lunchtime it is largely vacant. The "eatery" section is down a hall and off to the right again. Its decor has a nautical theme with a few big fish hanging on the wall. A couple of saltwater aquariums complete the theme. Brian's small son was all but consumed in dragging off adults to show them the aquariums. While he was showing Carl the finer points of saltwater wildlife, the waitress came and took our drink orders. While I was asking about the place, the waitress informed us that the owner himself had landed the behemoths hanging on the wall. Since marlins are endangered, he released the beast to fight another day. The replica hanging on the wall reminds us of the epic battle and is comprised of a manmade plastic. The Reuben arrived at length and was placed on the table in front of me. It's an average sized sandwich of flavorful meat and ample sauerkraut with just enough thousand island sauce to announce itself when bitten. The bread is mildly flavored rye and was toasted just enough to stiffen the outside leaving the interior soft. The cheese was too bland to work itself through the sauerkraut. It was a fairly good sandwich. I would have ordered another, but didn't have another hour for lunch. It took forever however to get our checks. The waitress must have been busy with other patrons as it was starting to peak with lunchtime traffic. I left enough to cover the check, a small tip and left to get back to the ho-hum world of software development.

This much more deserving of the name Elegance than the establishment across the street. Green abounds, including trees with white Christmas lights, marbled tabletops, and the waitstaff's golf shirts embroidered with the restaurant name: I'm glad the pub isn't on Shocking Pink Street. The lighting is good and the air smells fresh. The rather eclectic decor also includes some nautical implements, and a tuna and a sailfish mounted on the west wall. Below the mounted fish are two very large aquariums: one freshwater (I think), and one saltwater, which holds a clownfish and anemone, as well as some live coral and starfish. The service was quite good except for an unexplained but substantial delay in bringing out our checks. Place service is real china, metal flatware, and a glass, um, glass. The sandwich had a good blend of flavors, with no weak spots. The side of mustard potato salad was likewise good, though I think they might have overdone the paprika garnish a bit. In short, a nice place, and if I need a meal in Brownsburg I'll happily dine there again.

The Reuben was better on this visit than the last. The place was nicer, as well. The service isn't really all that fast, so don't plan on a quick lunch. I'll still go back, though.

Real good Reuben. Nice salty corned beef and powerful kraut. Completely overpowered the cheese. However service is a bit of a miss. It took a very long time to get a check. It took so long that I ended up giving a huge tip simply because I did not wish to wait for change (could that have been their plan?).
