We chose the Aroma Deli for lunch because it sounded different. We hadn't been to anywhere lately that had billed itself as Peruvian cuisine, so we thought it would be a nice change of pace on our road trip. We were able to find metered parking right outside the restaurant, so we parked and went inside.

The Aroma Deli was obviously a residential dwelling in the past, but most of the first floor had been converted into a kitchen and dining room.

The woman who greeted us at the counter was friendly, and there was a nice variety of meals available. We wanted to try their Peruvian chicken, so I had a 1/4 chicken dark and Katherine had the chicken mixed bowl (which had chicken, rice, black beans, lettuce, salsa, cheese and sour cream). They also had Jarritos drinks in the cooler, so I had a pineapple flavor and Katherine tried the tamarind flavor.

The food was served relatively quickly, and on styrofoam plates that made the food look like it was something brought along on a picnic. However, everything tasted great! A number of patrons stopped in while we were there to get orders to go—which is probably why the Aroma Deli doesn’t spend a lot of time on making a fancy dining room or using higher quality plates (plus, they could just be thrown away which means the kitchen didn't need to wash everything after use).

There was a tiny bathroom available next to the dining room that had obviously been sculpted out of excess space under the main staircase of the home. None of the walls were square and everything was located in strange places. Definitely check it out if you have the opportunity.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is not the type of place you might want to go for a date night but, overall, the Aroma Deli was a nice lunch and we would definitely stop here again.
