The Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden at Grant Park features sculptures of Ribsy, Henry Huggins and Ramona Quimby. I stopped by to visit when I was in Portland because she was one of my favorite children's authors.

Ribsy

Ribsy

"People liked Ribsy, and Ribsy liked people. Ribsy was what you might call a well-adjusted dog" (Ribsy, 1964).

Henry Huggins

Henry Huggins

"It was a warm night and the tennis courts and swimming pool were floodlighted... He passed the playground where he heard the children's shouts and the clank and clang of the rings and swings" (Henry Huggins, 1950).

Ramona Quimby

Ramona Quimby

"Only grownups would say boots were for keeping feet dry. Anyone in kindergarten knew that a girl should wear shiny red or white boots on the first rainy day, not to keep her feet dry, but to show off. That's what boots were for - showing off, wading, splashing, stamping" (Ramona the Pest, 1968).
