Last Great Day
Lancaster, PA to Hagerstown, MD
Oct 4, 2007
Between church services, we went to lunch with Mom and Dad back at Isaac's Restaurant & Deli in Strasburg, PA (). Chris had another Reuben on a pretzel roll, Katherine had the Big Fat Lyre, Steven had the Cardinal (flatbread pizza), and Andrew had the Extreme Purple Mallow (PB&J).
On the way out of town, we drove past James Buchanan's Wheatland, and took US-30 westbound around York and to Gettysburg. We had planned to have dinner at Gettysbrew on Huntertown Road, but when we got there, it was no longer in business. Chris and Katherine had dined there one evening when they were in Gettysburg back in 1999.
Disappointed, we took Route 116 back eastward to catch US-15 southbound. We followed US-15 until we got to Maryland 77. It was beginning to get dark. We crossed Catoctin Mountain, and it was a nice drive. At Smithsburg, we took MD-64 westbound to Robinwood Drive, which we took down to US-40 to arrive at our destination, the Comfort Suites in Hagerstown, Maryland (). We checked in room 109, and drove to dinner a few blocks down US-40 at the Texas Roadhouse (). Chris and Katherine both had the 10-ounce Ft. Worth Ribeye, Steven had the hamburger, and Andrew had the Lil' Dillo Sirloin Bites.
