We came here for an early lunch on a Sunday, and the place was super busy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying a late breakfast. The server was really friendly when she greeted us and took our order.
I ordered the Grilled Reuben, which came with a bowl of soup as a side. You could substitute fries for an additional charge, so I went ahead and picked the chicken and rice soup that was offered. When the bowl of soup came, it was definitely not a "cup" of soup, it was in a giant, wide bowl. It also came with several slices of bread and crackers that could be added as accompaniments.
The Reuben came out after only 11 minutes, which was pretty impressive. And despite what the menu said, my Reuben was not served open faced (thankfully!). And there was a nice sized dish with Thousand Island dressing on the side. The sandwich itself had a lot of beef that extended outside of the sandwich proper, and the sauerkraut fell out easily as he picked it up, it was kind of a messy sandwich.
I usually like having the Thousand Island dressing on the side, which allows me to control the amount that I dip on the sandwich. This dressing was maybe just a little too sweet, and it was difficult to dip the sandwich because the insides kept wanting to fall out.
The thick strips of corned beef were a little dry, but still flavorful, and the ingredients really went pretty well together.
The sauerkraut was very (overly) plentiful, and its flavor was a pretty good mix of tangy and sweet. The bread, while it was good, it was a little bit weak to handle such a big and messy sandwich.
Overall, it was a good Reuben. Not the best, but definitely one to order if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
