It was an overcast and foggy day as we entered the Tie Dye Grill. Once inside, however, the vibrant colors and decor were enough to cheer anyone. The staff was friendly and helpful, accommodating our large group. The menu had clever "hippie" names for the selections and the tie-dye theme was quite evident but without pushing it over the top. The Reubens came out relatively quickly, and the corned beef was piled on generously. The beef had a good flavor that complemented the other ingrdients. Some of the sauerkraut was a little crunchy and either the sauerkraut or their homemade Thousand Island offered a nice kick. I would have liked to have had some additional Thousand Island, or had it on the side. The bread they used was flavorful, but may have been just a touch undergrilled--that could be a result of needing to prepare so many for our group. I did catch one bite that was mostly Swiss cheese so that I could taste it--the quality of the Swiss was superb. The one thing that stood out the most about the sandwich was how messy it was. I had to keep napkins close at hand as dressing and sauerkraut tumbled out of the sandwich. I definitely recommend a visit to try their Reuben--I'll be returning with my family and telling my friends.

This place has wonderful decor, including lava lamps, tie-dyed tablecloths, seventies rock posters, and vases with smiling cloth flowers. It's a little strange that you can see a desk right inside the front door--apparently this is the management office--but not actually offputting. The kitchen area is mostly open, and if you sit at the high tables in the center of the dining area you can watch most of your food being prepared: you can certainly smell it, and it smells great. The staff was very friendly, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume this would still have been true if they hadn't already known we were coming. We ordered at our table but paid at a register up front. The plastic drink glasses are a lovely cobalt blue, a surprisingly refreshing change from the ubiquitous red Coke glass. Utensils are metal, and napkins are paper. Make sure you get lots of napkins: this is a juicy sandwich. Our food was served in plastic baskets on waxed paper. The tie dye fries were a bit pricey, but had a peppery seasoning that I really liked. The sandwich had lots of tasty beef with good texture, not from a processed meat loaf. The bread got rather soggy, so make sure to flip the sandwich over as soon as it arrives. It might help if they were to protect both slices of bread with the cheese as some restaurants do, but the Swiss they use here has big holes so I'm not sure. What really makes this sandwich is the dressing: it has some extra twang to it, and I'm not sure what it is, but the result is a Reuben with a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. I was pleasantly full when I left. Between the atmosphere and the flavor I doubt there's anywhere on Earth you can have a Reuben experience like this one, and you ought to try it at least once.

Not enough Thousand Island for my taste, and I prefer the corned beef to be saltier. The bread wasn't as stiff as I like. There was more sauerkraut than I needed and the cheese could have been melted more. Despite all that, it was very tasty. Plus CSN&Y on the TV--awesome!

Delicious Reuben! The homemade Thousand Island is fantastic, but I would order more on the side. Big, meaty sandwich. I would drive across town to eat this Reuben again.

The Reuben was probably the best that I have had up to this point. The onion rings were definitely the best yet. Generous portions! The service was very kind and accommodating. The surroundings were in direct alignment with the name of the establishment--Tie Dye Grill. I would and will be returning.

The sandwich was good and gooey with just the right messiness. The meat to kraut ratio was spot-on.

I hate hippies and the '60s in general, but I can look past the decor when the food is this good. Everything about this Reuben was top notch. It was piled high with very high quality meat and cheese. The only ding I can give this Reuben is the meat could be salted more. Corned beef should be salty.

This was one of the best Reubens I have had. Given the huge amount of corned beef, it could have used a little more thousand island. The seasoned fries were very good. I really enjoyed the theme of the Tie Dye grill, especially the music theme.

I came here with some hesitation, being that I'm pretty much the anti-hippie, but the atmosphere turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The Reuben was excellent--not too dry. Overall, a great experience.

Fabulous Reuben... well-balanced ingredients made for a delicious sandwich. 4 napkins on the messy factor. There is something unusual about the Thousand Island... unusual in a good way... some secret ingredient that makes the taste exceptional!
