We had a nice lunch at the Tin Lizzie Cafe.

When we were there the front facade was under construction so there was no signage and it was a little hard to find. But it was clear that there were a number of regulars there who the workers knew by name.

When you first come in, the room is dominated by the food preparation area. You grab a tray and then either order from the items and specials behind the glass, like a cafeteria, or from the menu on the back wall. You then pay and find a seat in the back half of the restaurant.

Four of us had Reuben Sandwiches, and they were brought out to us after a while.

There was a lot of corned beef--maybe a little overpowering the balance for the sauerkraut and dressing. But I'm not complaining, it was still pretty good! The bread seemed to be toasted instead of just grilled, so it was a little crunchier than I'm used to. It reminded me of ordering rye toast, but still tasted good on the sandwich.

Overall, this was a good, large sandwich at an amazing price.

The restaurant was peaceful and the staff was friendly. I'll definitely stop again if I'm in downtown Richmond. Being downtown, I had to park a couple of blocks away and walk to the restaurant. Fortunately the parking on the streets is free.
