The restaurant was pretty quiet for lunch on this Thursday, but business started to pick up about 12:45.
When you first come into the restaurant, there is a counter island in the main room, where you are welcome to seat yourself either at the counter, or there is another room to the left with booths.
The dining room was clean but the print on the booths was a little quaint and seemed about 20 years past its decorative prime. The restaurant menus are already on the tables when you arrive. This, combined with the directive of seating yourself meant that you can come in quickly and get right to the business of deciding what to order.
While at the restaurant, we visited the restrooms. I was surprised to note that the restrooms were located in a basement area under the main room, which can be reached by going down a narrow staircase to the side of the counter area. The restrooms were nice, once you made it there.
Our server was very friendly and efficient. She was quick and did what needed done and didn't linger.
I ordered the Reuben sandwich, and I wasn't sure what I'd get for the price. It seemed quite inexpensive, so I was afraid I'd get something inedible. However, it was pretty good--not anything amazing, but a solid sandwich.
The bread was a little rigid and maybe a little too crunchy. You could taste the butter in it, which was nice, but perhaps a little less grilling of the sandwich would have been welcome. The sauerkraut was juicy and the corned beef was a relatively good quality. Overall the ingredients were proportioned according to the price: there wasn't a huge amount of beef or kraut, but it wasn't skimpy.
Overall, we liked the place. Katherine liked the gyro and onion rings that she had. They had good food for an excellent price. I'd be happy to eat the Reuben again, or sample some of their other offerings.
