Truckin’ Past the Beach Dude

Our trip to the hotel du jour took us south from St. Paul on US-52, through Hampton, Minnesota. A trucking company has livened its landscape with a huge Beach Dude sculpture, as well as a Viking and a Gorilla.





From there, we drove just ten minutes or so more to Cannon Falls, Minnesota. We were booked into the Caravan Motel. This wasn’t our favorite stay of the trip. The halls were saturated with cigarette smell, and the room wasn’t in the greatest of repair. The beds didn’t seem like they were actually queen-sized (though they may have been), and the mattresses were way hard. Katherine woke up with a sore shoulder from having slept there. Still, it was a resting place.
