This giant Cootie is located at Shenandoah Caverns near Quicksburg, Virginia.
There is a sign posted near it by Shenandoah Caverns that states:
The Giant Cootie
The giant Cootie bug is modeled after the children’s game Cootie.
It appeared in the Macy’s Parade in New York City from 1975 to 1981 before being donated to the Children’s Museum in Washington. When the museum closed it was acquired by Caverns owner Earl Hargrove, Jr. and moved to the Caverns property.
